Support for JAHP Project - an Appeal to All

Sri Lanka has suffered from almost three decades of civil war caused by ethnic tensions. Out of a population of around 19.2 million, approximately 83,000 individuals in Sri Lanka were registered blind in 1984, scattered across its 9 provinces.
Whereas the blind and the vision impaired among the major ethnic community in the Southern and Western provinces are served by the Sri Lanka Council for the Blind those in the minority dominated areas of North and East were almost completely neglected and allowed to fend for themselves.

Coventry, situated in the Midlands, is one of the ancient cities in England. World famous playwright William Shakespeare was born in Stratford, which is approximately thirty miles Southwest of Coventry. It is an industrial city and home for several inventions and productions. The very popular Jaguar car company is based here. Frank Whittle, who invented the Jet Engine, was born here too.

This city is world famous for our Lady Godiva's life story, which happened back in the thirteenth century and bringing meaning to the history and great heritage of the City, we still celebrate it every year in the streets of Coventry. The Godiva sprit, a timeless message of caring, unity and empowerment, stimulation and a smile for those in need of friendship - symbolises the humanity of mankind.

Dear Tamil speaking friends,
As you are aware, already most of popular Tamil websites are using Unicode in their websites. We also would like to start using Unicode to write in Tamil, which was introduced by Microsoft. This will reduce our workloads tremendously. The paragraph above is written in Tamil in a text format using Unicode and not an image as we did in the past. Please do not hesitate to mail your feedback to coventrytamils@yahoo.co.uk
Further information about Unicode can be found at http://www.suratha.com/tamilunicode.html. - CTWA Web Master.
